A Pastor Invites Fellow Church Leaders to The Courage Conference
You are a pastor or leader in a christian school or ministry. You’ve heard about The Courage Conference, but wonder, “Is this really for me, or is it just for survivors of abuse?” Take a look and decide for yourself.
Why Should You Come To The Courage Conference?
When asked the question, “Why should a pastor attend The Courage Conference?” Pastor Glenn Entwistle, of A New Hope Bible Church, answered:
“For me, The Courage Conference is needed to battle this idea that churches and pastors can handle abuse (both internal and external) in isolation.
Over the years, we've bought into the false narrative that all we need is a good church and a faithful pastor to find healing. But what happens when the church AND the pastor are perpetuating the abuse by encouraging the abused to not seek the help they need? Too many times, a pastor's ego coupled with the belief that finding help will bring shame to the "cause of Christ" causes victims to hide from the help they truly need.
So in my mind, we need The Courage Conference for two reasons:
First, to give victims a safe place and a voice.
Second, to show pastors that we shouldn’t fear the reality that we aren't always equipped to deal with abuse victims. Seeking outside professional help is not only healthy, it's biblical.”
